Well known Ukrainian DJ, musician, music producer,
Ukrainian club and rave pioneer, and a legend of the
Ukrainian underground. Started off creating music in
minimal, noise, indie-techno, experimental, and
alternative guitar music styles, world and ethno music
styles.
Ivan DERBASTLER produced and mastered the earliest
compilations of the Ukrainian electronic scene including,
Torba Sound 95, Who is Next, SALEction 2000, Music
for Space Lorry Drivers.
Ivan was a musical director and resident DJ for the first
rave Torba Party events in 95 – 97, and founder of the
underground projects Yarn and Radiodelo. А member of
the Shake Hi-Fi, Electrics, Foa Hoka indie bands. Since
2009 has been active in producing the international
project Mama Diaspora.
He is the co-founder of the Torba tapes, Sale! Records,
Thermos Records,

Ritmika Records, and Extra-Estrada Records indie labels.
Since 1995, Ivan has authored soundtracks for fashion
designer Lilia Pustovit, regularly taking part in Ukrainian
Fashion Week from 1998, as well until now for a
number of other Ukrainian fashion designers.
Ivan DERBASTLER took part in international
contemporary art forums, such as: the Venice Biennale,
Manifesta 5, the Palais des Festivals at Cannes, at the
Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, at the Soros Center for
Contemporary Art in Kyiv, the Goethe Institute German
Cultural Center, the National Museum of Ukrainian Art
and the Pinchuk Art Centre. He also performed at
international musical festivals: the Koktebel Jazz
Festival, Jazz Carnival in Odessa, Shargorod art fest,
Kyiv International Media-Art Festival KIMAF, the New
Sound International Youth Festival of alternative music,
and the Dream Catcher Contemporary Art Festival
among others.
He performed in the USA, Germany, France, Austria,
Italy, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland.
Most recently Ivan was a tour DJ for Gogol Bordello’s
“Dada Western tour” (USA-tour), Atlas Weekend
international music festival, Eurovision and UEFA
Champions League side eve
